Change
Change is good, right?
I've been in my current position for just over a year now and it's going along all right. I seem to be the second in 'command' as I very quickly seem to become where ever I have been over the last few years - this is definitely a good thing me thinks! Definitely not in disposable, but an asset nonetheless.
I've got some other things going on 'on the side' including freelance writing which keeps me excited in an otherwise boring job. But hey, I get paid good money, do my work and still have plenty of time on my hand to pursue other interests - such as updating my blog from time to time! But now, my ex-boss who developed in to a friend has signed on to head a company and explicitly explained to the investor that he wanted me 'onboard'.
After a few meetings with the aforementioned investor, he wants me to join 'as soon as possible' and is going to finalise the contract with my ex-boss. This will probably mean more money (hopefully), a boss that I am totally relaxed with, and still enough time to pursue those interests. It is an established company, which includes an advertising operation which has grown from 4 to 50 personnel in 4 years. Sounds like a no brainer, right?!
So why have I been so confused? I think I have come to an answer for that one - my sometimes blind sense of loyalty to my company and Clients. I know what I will do if the offer is right though - I may be blind, but not stupid! But it still makes me feel a little guilty.
The new job should also include a better 'title', which is always good. More opportunities abound as well, with a new idea on the horizon with said company involving motor sports! Another big step to make then...

Just remember: change isn't always bad. The caterpillar must become the butterly, so to speak.
So go on, become a creature with cullyfully wings.
Change is the only constant: you can run from it, but you can't hide.
Ex-boss, good.
Potential motorsports work, goooood.
And hey, more money ALWAYS gooooood :)
Change rocks man. Embrace it. Mo Money? Dude!!!
First of all: major congrats on this exciting new development.
As for problems with change, one of the most memorable passages of literature I have ever read comes from Brian Keenan's superb 'An Evil Cradling' (an absolute must-read!) in which Keenan describes the moment when the door of his prison cell - in which he has been kept hostage for several years - is finally thrown open. He has been waiting for freedom from the moment he was captured. He has detested every single second of his incarceration. He cannot wait to be with his friends and family back in Ireland. And yet, when he sees his freedom literally open before him, he hesitates. Only for a moment, but he still hesitates. Because - for better or worse - he has actually got used to his cell and the routines of his new life. He actually has to force himself to embrace the freedom for which he has longed for so long.
I'll never forget that particular passage, because it just reminds me that our psychological make-up (if you'll allow me to generalise for one moment) enjoys inertia. Change is scary. (Of course it is! It's change, right?) Change is complicated. But it is also so very, very necessary sometimes. And if this professional move weren't right for you, you'd know it. Something in your bones or your gut would tell you not to go for it. And have you thought that maybe this ex-boss of yours wants you on board precisely because he/she understands that you are the kind of person who becomes involved with your clients and always wants to achieve the best for them?
So do whatever feels right, but congrats on getting the offer anyway.
And by the way, thanks for putting my page in your Links section!
Hey D,
I just read your update. If I remember correctly the reason SERIF are going out of fashion is because studies have shown it is easier to read fonts without "a slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter".
So yes I am afraid you won't be seeing them after some time.

PS Will there be a "Comments section coming soon" sign soon?
Okay... this is a bit weird: people feeding back about MY site on ARFIMAN's blog.
Thanks for the comment, O. And thanks for reading the site! I didn't think anybody actually did that!(Are you who I think you are? Are you, for instance, Filipino?) Yes, I suspect what you say about serifs is right... but I have a feeling ease of legibility isn't the main reason why sans-serif fonts have become so predominant during the last 5 or so years.
As for a comments section on my site... do you mean something like this page here, where people can post responses. Yes, I think I will have to make something like that, but I think I want to be able to have control over what does and doesn't get published... so I'm going to have to do some figuring out on that one. But if you have anything to say about the site (PLEASE, anything AT ALL, 'cause DreamWeaver is still WAAAY beyond my paltry comprehension!) then you can always send me an email.
And now I think we'd better place the focus back on Arfiman...
Actually I was thinking the same thing - you need a comments section...
Okay! Okay! I'm working on it as we speak. It's just that, in all honesty, I didn't actually think anyone would be interested in posting any comments...
ya know D, i think you need a comments section.
Oh by the way, did i tell you you needed a comments section too?
And lastly, you need a comments section.
PS: don't forget the comments section
Okay, people. I've identified the chapter of my 'Idiot's Guide To Dreamweaver' book which I must now study so that all three of you can have a neat little form into which you can type.
Just give me a few days to do it.
I am now going to sit in the garden and jot down some ideas for my novel.
Ciao.
SIT IN THE GARDEN AND JOT IDEAS!
I am a perfect shade of brocolli now. You have a book idea AND a garden.
I don't have a garden, but I have a book idea.
It is set sometime in the near future when Nibiru - the twelfth planet - enters the Solar System and sets in motion a chain of events that reveals the true story of man's creation (and man's ultimate destiny), of how the Annunaki effected theology over the ages, how they left (often misleading) messages in the Sumerian tablets, and how - on the Annunaki's last visit to our planet almost 1500 years ago - Prophet Mohammed started the revolution to save man: a religion called 'Islam'.
Ah, the thick plottens: Annunakis left behind a number of offspring to ensure that man is led astray, because it is on man's disbelief that the Annunakis thrive.
The book will talk about religion as self-defense, rather than as the word of God. Kind of a theophilisophical, sci-fi thriller.
I know it sounds very blasphemous. Maybe I won't write it after all.
At least it'll save me the trouble of wondering how to NOT put PBUH after the Prophet's name without feeling guilty or how to put it without coming across as too much of a Muslimah.
BPC, we need to talk...
You have my number Smoky ....
This is more of a face to face kinda thing...
